Sean Smyth

 
 
 

Sean Smyth acts as a consultant and analyst in print and packaging, as well as for Smithers, and as a print and packaging journalist. He is technically very strong, helping companies make money through the appropriate implementation of technology. His client base includes most of the major digital equipment developers, with ink and toner manufacturers and suppliers of finishing equipment as well as converters and buyers of packaging.

After his doctorate in Chemistry, he became an ink chemist before moving into printing and packaging companies in a series of senior technical and managerial roles. As Technical Director at Rexam, he was deeply involved in digital print, commissioning the first Indigo presses in the UK, along with other machines.

He has owned and managed printing and packaging businesses in the UK, and been involved in many investment decisions over the years. He has written many market studies for Smithers on future print and packaging markets and technologies. He speaks and acts as Chair at conferences on printing markets and technology across the world.

Beside his Ph.D. Sean also holds an MBA and is used to providing operational and strategic advice across the print, packaging and publishing supply chains. He is experienced in providing technical and market due diligence advice.
